As I was sat down one evening I was thinking about gospel music and how it's changed over the years. Have you heard about the duo 'mary mary'? Have you listened to their music?
Years back, gospel music was soulful, I can't think of the right word to descibe how it was but when you listened to it, it moved your spirit. The majority of the new material I hear on the market today do nothing for your spirit but definately moves your feet.

Let me go back to 'mary mary', I think they're a good example to use. The 1st song that came out was 'shackles' back in 2000. The 1st line of the chorus says "take the shackles of my feet so I can dance" now I don't see anything wrong with dancing for the Lord as king David did in the bible, but this song really makes you want to dance, and ot for God! Forget about the words of that song, the up-beat tempo itself makes you want to jiggle. Doesn't it?!!
When this song came out, I wasn't attending church at the time and I use to go clubbing and it was these very songs that you would hear playing. Now tell me, how can you play gospel music in a dance? It can't work!
Then again, there are some artists whose material sound like gospel though they don't look like Christians.
Anyway,I would love to hear what you think! Do you agree or dis-agree. It would be good to hear from some of you.

Every one is a Christian now a days but only through religion. Religion has damaged and destroyed the lives of billions of people for centuries. It has blinded and caused people to loose their way in this life. It has caused tremendous amount of pain and has broken up famillies it's caused division in society and really serves no purpose but leaves death and destruction.

Ok, look at how many different Christian denominations there are, I'll name a few, Catholic, Protestant, Methodist, and all of them have caused problems amongst people. Religion! Beware of religion!

I am not religious but I am a believer in Jesus Christ, baptised in water in his name, and filled with his spirit. This faith has brought salvation which is deliverance for man kind, so that we don't have to be subjected to spirits of this world, only to God and it has changed me totally. My life has done a 360 degree turn around.
There are many Christians still tied to sin and are very much apart of the lifestyles of this world. For examle look at the gospel artist 'Mary Mary'. Now they don't look any more different than the next person. I know you are probably saying that no-one can see their heart and that theyr'e probably closer to God than anyone else, but then what is on the inside will surely reflect on the outside of that person.
Forgive me if I come across as judgemental or self righteous, I'm trying to differentiate between these nominal Christians and 'old fashined' Christians.
There seems to be a cry out for integration and compromise in todays world but I don't believe that this is the way forward. If anything, this is definately steps backward.

Dare to be different?

What is wrong with being different? What is wrong with living in this society, this big world and being 'different'?
I know that I'm different and I definately think that people should be able to walk past me on the street and say that there's something parculier about me if I identify myself as a Christian. Which I do. They may not know what it is that may cause me to look the way I do but they should be able to see a difference.

See, this is where it gets tricky because your knowledge and understanding of what a Christian should be like is probably correct, according to the bible we shoud be like Christ. If we look at the character of Jesus when he walked this earth, we read how he was very different to those that were living around him. Put aside the miracles He performed for a moment because we know that there was more to Him than that, and focus on His character, He was peaceful, compassionate to others, Honest, and stood firm in the Faith, He didn't compromise Himself or His mission for anyone, Thanks be to God, and He had power and last but not least, He had Love. And it was Love that caused Him to make the ultimate sacrifice for mankind and die for our sins that we might have eternal life and power to make a difference here on earth.

God has given us the power to live a life that is different to everyone else.
A born again Christian should possess the power which is the spirit ofGod to co-exist with others and not be tarred with the same brush as every body else.
You're probably wondering what I'm getting at! Well, true Christians not only bare the same characteristics as God but they look different on the outside, eg, their clothes, face, hair.
We shouldn't follow the ever changing fashions of this world, nor should we be drinking alcolhol, smoking, partying, involving in sexual relationships, it probably sounds like an unrealistic way to live doesn't it, but it's not. God has equipt us with the ability to not indulge in such things through his Spirit.

It is so important to be seperated and untangled from the things of this world. After all, we are his creation and he is Holy so we should seperate from anything that would cause us to sin against God and take us away from his purpose.

I really want to connect with the younger generation of Christians and also those of you who are in the faith who know in their heart that God requires more and better from you. You may not agree with my opinion but every thing I've said can be backed up by the bible and my own personal testimonies.

There is a preacher that I so admire, his name is Pastor Gino Jennings. I've listened to the teachings because it is all biblical, and I can agree with what he preaches and teaches. Holiness, soberness, the undiluted word of God.
And that's what this whole Christian walk is about, not diluting Gods word!
